Decorated Police Officer and Successful Businessman

Dr. Hiew’s career began with over 36 years of distinguished service in the Royal Malaysian Police Force, where he rose to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police. His exceptional performance and leadership were recognized through numerous accolades, including Service Medals, Letters of Commendation, and the Excellent Service Award.

 

After retiring from the police force, Dr. Hiew transitioned into the corporate world, showcasing his business acumen as the Managing Director of two prominent local oil palm companies, Happy Plantations (Sandakan) Pte Ltd and Happy Plantations (Kota Marudu) Pte Ltd.

 

Dedicated to Religious and Social Service

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Dr. Hiew has been a driving force in religious and social activities. He has organized large-scale Buddhist events, including the annual Buddha Day (Wesak Day) celebrations in Sabah, which have greatly benefitted the local community. Additionally, he has served as the Founder and Chairman of five Buddhist associations, including the Sabah Amitabha Society and four Guang Hao Buddhist Societies in Malaysia, dedicated to promoting Buddhist teachings and fostering spiritual growth.

 

Lifelong Learner and Scholar

Dr. Hiew’s commitment to lifelong learning is truly inspiring. He holds two prestigious doctorate degrees, a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) and a Professional Doctorate (PD) in Buddhist Studies, both from the European International University. He also earned two Master’s degrees, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with Distinction from Anglia Ruskin University and a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies.

 

Currently, Dr. Hiew is pursuing his third Doctorate degree in Business Administration and a third Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to personal and intellectual growth.
