Dr. Sivarajasingam Mahendran is a highly respected educator and consultant in the field of adult education, renowned for his dedication to advancing literacy and fostering quality in learning environments. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Mahendran has made significant contributions to the educational landscape, both in Singapore and internationally.
He currently serves as an Associate Workplace Literacy Trainer at the Institute of Adult Learning, where he has been recognized with a Commendation Award for his exceptional delivery of training programs. Dr. Mahendran’s approach combines innovative teaching methods with a strong emphasis on research, enabling him to provide adult learners with practical and relevant skills that enhance their personal and professional development.
Dr. Mahendran’s career began in the Ministry of Education, where he taught in primary and secondary schools for over 20 years, contributing to various disciplines such as English, Physical Education, and Pastoral Care. His commitment to student welfare led him to establish the first counseling unit at the Management Development Institute of Singapore, where he also taught English to foreign students and initiated extracurricular activities like debating clubs and educational visits.
In 2010, Dr. Mahendran transitioned to NTUC Learning Hub, managing the Workplace Literacy training unit while mentoring associate trainers and developing curriculum materials.
