A research record is a list of finished work. It is not a chair. A university makes a professor by appointment, after a doctorate, publications, teaching and, often, supervised research. The American University of Business and Social Sciences, with the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education, offers a different recognition. For a candidate whose weight is research rather than the classroom, the file is the argument. AUBSS asks for an established record of scholarship. A nomination should carry a curriculum vitae, the publications or reports, and a short note of what the work changed. Groundbreaking is a claim the papers have to support. A single certificate, or a title used without an appointment, will not. Past joint awards have rested on published work and professional practice in leadership, adult education, and cybersecurity. The pattern is a documented contribution, not a purchased style of address.
The award is issued jointly by AUBSS and QAHE. Recipients are named in public notices. The processing fee is not printed on the award page. The university asks candidates to write for it. A 10 per cent reduction is offered to a candidate who also takes the AUBSS honorary doctorate. That doctorate is honorary. It is not an examined research degree, and the reduction does not change that.
The limit belongs in the same paragraph as the offer. QAHE’s own award notices describe the title as an honorific. It is not a salaried chair. It is not a licence to practise as a professor under the law of any country. It is not an academic degree, and it does not convert any other certificate into a state qualification. AUBSS states that it is accredited by QAHE. That is an institutional quality-assurance listing. It does not confer authority to award national degrees. A holder may use the wording on the certificate. The wording should not say that a named university has appointed them professor unless that university has done so.
